Greenhouse Grower/Manager

Qualifications: 

-positive attitude and ability to self motivate and work independently or with a small team

-able to lift 40 pounds and work in hot environments

-at least 5 years growing experience total, with at least 2 years organic greenhouse experience and 2 years management experience

-familiar with the tools and methods for small scale no-till vegetable farming - seeders, hand cultivation equipment, irrigation, etc.

-experience building greenhouse infrastructure a plus but not required (we are currently working on a project to update our greenhouse coverings and install a climate battery system and wood fired boiler, this could be a great opportunity to add to your skills)

Responsibilities: 

-Show up to the farm on time with a positive attitude and desire to contribute

-Work with the farm manager to develop a greenhouse crop plan for each season

-Manage the implementation of the greenhouse crop plan and perform the bulk of the day to day tasks for year-round organic vegetable production in 21,000 sq. ft. of greenhouse space

-Hire, train, and manage seasonal greenhouse help to assist during busiest months

Additional opportunities available for the right candidate if desired:

-Retail farmers' market responsibilities for additional compensation

-Livestock management experience 

-Tractor mechanized no-till field vegetable experience 

Compensation: 

-Base hourly compensation $20-25/hr

-1.5 overtime pay

-Additional seasonal production based bonuses $3k-8k/year

-Optional farmers' market commission bonuses $4k-6k/year

-Free farm food for your household (meat, eggs, broths, vegetables, grains and flour)

-2 weeks paid time off

-Massachusetts offers paid family and medical leave to anyone working in MA

-$55-75k total annual compensation estimated


Seasonal and Year-Round Grower

Hiring for year-round and seasonal Grower positions assisting in all aspects of a 90 acre organic, diversified, regenerative farm. Main responsibilities will be assisting in hand-powered no-till vegetable production outdoors and in greenhouses:

-bed preparation, seeding and planting

-weeding and cultivating

-pruning, trellising and side dressing

-harvesting, washing and packing

As a diversified farm, there are opportunities to become involved in and learn other farming skills:

-equipment operation - tractors, implements, chainsaws, etc. 

-livestock - cows, sheep, pigs, chickens, guard dogs, making hay

-grains - growing, processing and milling

-value added products - bone broth and vegan burgers

-infrastructure - greenhouse and barn construction, sawyering, etc.

Experience preferred but not required. Willing to train ambitious folks with a good attitude. 

Compensation: 

$15-25/hr depending on experience, skills, productivity, etc. Additional performances for more responsibilities such as farmers’ markets and enterprise management.

Schedule: 

Year round - 40 hrs (4 or 5 days)/week Tuesdays-Saturdays, April-Oct, lower hours and time off during off-season possible but not necessary

Seasonal - 20-40 hrs/week Tuesdays-Saturdays, total of at least 2 months May-Sept.

About the farm & crew:

We are a first generation, four-season, regenerative, certified-organic farm located on 90 acres in Southeastern MA. We produce beef, pork, lamb, chicken, eggs, grains, flour, fruits and vegetables for direct to consumer sales through farmers' markets and home delivery. Our mission is to help build a resilient food system that increases access to healthy food for our community for generations to come. Our work towards this mission includes developing and practicing organic no-till vegetable and grain production, rotationally grazing livestock, and encouraging biodiversity. In 2019 we are adding a no-till market garden to focus our farming energy on carbon sequestration, soil health & balance across the farm. We are committed to regenerative agriculture and never use any pesticides, herbicides, GMOs, antibiotics, hormones, or other chemicals at our farm.
